Summer Youth Theater Camp

Since 2017, the Independence Community Theater Summer Youth Camp has provided a warm, dynamic environment where young performers explore acting, singing, and dancing. Originally founded in 1989 by Bonnie LoConti, the program provided over a decade of formative experiences for local youth—including one young camper Jennifer Sindyla. Growing up in the theater, "Miss Jen" years later stepped up to revive the cherished tradition, launching with a modest production of Seussical Kids.

Today, under her thoughtful leadership, the camp has expanded into a flourishing three-community program spanning Independence, Brecksville, and Cassidy Theatre. Each summer, hundreds of campers spend two and a half intensive weeks mastering choreography, vocal performance, and character work.

Over the years, our stage has come alive with kids putting on beloved shows like Aladdin Kids, Willy Wonka Kids, Frozen Kids, The Music Man Kids, The Wizard of Oz, Finding Nemo Kids, Alice in Wonderland Jr., and most recently, our celebrated production of Shrek The Musical Kids.

More than just putting on a show, the program builds lasting friendships, artistic confidence, and a supportive community centered on courage and self-expression.
